The conclusion of the tale of Garuda's origin affirms the triumph of a higher design that reconciles all wills. The austerity of the offended Valakhilyas was not wasted and did not shatter the world order: it was transformed into the birth of Garuda — not a rival to Indra, but the lord of the winged creatures and the future bearer of Lord Vishnu Himself. Thus the Lord weaves together the wrath of the righteous, the desire of Vinata, and the design of Kashyapa into a single good. Here is the working of a higher harmony: what began as a threat (a new Indra) is turned by Providence into glory (the birth of a devoted servant of God). Notable, too, is Kashyapa's warning to Indra: "do not insult brahmins, their words are venomous" — an eternal teaching that offense against the saintly is ruinous even for the king of the gods. Aruna, imperfect in body, nonetheless becomes the charioteer of the Sun — even what is incomplete finds, by the higher will, a worthy place. And the consecration of Garuda as "king of the winged creatures" foreshadows his service to the Lord. Thus, from a chain of transgressions, wrath, and desires, there is born, by grace from above, the one who will forever bear Vishnu.
