Translation

The city was guarded by the middle division, called Sara, as well as by advance detachments of cavalry and infantry. It was proclaimed in the city that no one should drink intoxicants: Ugrasena, Uddhava, and others guarded against carelessness, because Shalva would strike precisely at those who let down their guard. Actors, dancers, and singers were sent out of the city; the treasuries were guarded. Bridges were destroyed, boats forbidden, moats reinforced with stakes, wells and reservoirs brought under control, and the ground around the city made difficult to approach. Dvaraka, already impregnable, well defended, and well armed, then became like the abode of Indra.
