Vaishampayana said: 'As he journeyed on, the great-souled king beheld beautiful and holy tirthas by the ocean, all adorned with brahmins, here and there, O Bharata. Having performed the rites and bathed in them together with his younger brothers, the son of Pandu came to the holiest and most renowned river flowing into the sea, O Parikshit. There too the great-souled one bathed, satisfied the ancestors and gods, gave wealth to the foremost of the twice-born, and went on to the Godavari flowing toward the ocean. Then, freed from sin, in the land of the Dravidas, by the ocean holy to the world, the hero beheld the pure and holy Agastya-tirtha and the tirthas of women. There, hearing of the deed of Arjuna, the best of archers, unbearable for others, the son of Pandu, honored by assemblies of great sages, found great joy. Having bathed his body in these tirthas together with Krishna and his younger brothers, the lord of the earth rejoiced upon the earth, extolling the valor of Arjuna. Then, having given away thousands of cows at these tirthas of the best of cloud-bearers, he, joyful together with his brothers, proclaimed Arjuna's gift of cows. Thus, passing gradually through these and many other holy tirthas of the ocean, his desires fulfilled, he beheld the most sacred Shurparaka.'

Even far from Arjuna, Yudhishthira is sustained by the memory of his feat. Separation turns into gratitude when one brother extols the worth of another.
