Translation

Brihaspati said: 'You are the mouth of all the gods, O Agni. You are the bearer of sacred offerings. You, as a witness, have access to the inner souls of all beings. Poets call you the one and again the threefold. O devourer of oblations, should the universe be abandoned by you, it would perish at once. Brahmins, bowing to you, together with their wives and sons, attain the eternal realm, the reward of their worthy deeds. O Agni, it is you who bears the sacred offerings. You, O Agni, are yourself the finest offering. In the sacrificial rite of the highest order, it is you who are worshipped with unceasing gifts and offerings. O bearer of offerings, having created the three worlds, you, when the hour comes, will consume them again in your unquenched form. You are the mother of the whole universe; and again you, O Agni, are its culmination.'
