वयं त्व् अप्रतिमं वीर्ये सर्वे सौभद्रम् आत्मजम् ॥
उक्तवन्तः स्म ते तात भिन्ध्य् अनीकम् इति प्रभो ॥
स तथा चोदितो ऽस्माभिः सदश्व इव वीर्यवान् ॥
असह्यम् अपि तं भारं वोढुम् एवोपचक्रमे ॥

uktavantaḥ sma te tāta bhindhy anīkam iti prabho ||
sa tathā codito 'smābhiḥ sadaśva iva vīryavān ||
asahyam api taṃ bhāraṃ voḍhum evopacakrame ||

"And we all said to the peerless-in-valor son of Subhadra, your son: 'Son, break the array!', O lord. Thus urged on by us, like a spirited good horse, he set out to bear even that unbearable burden."

The decisive word is named directly: "bhindhi anīkam", "break the array" — and the bitter admission "coditaḥ asmābhiḥ", "urged on by us". The image "sadaśvaḥ… asahyam api bhāram voḍhum upacakrame", "like a good horse he set out to bear the unbearable", is both praise for the boy's readiness and a verdict upon those who sent him: the nobility of the young answered the call, heedless that the burden was beyond bearing. It is telling that Yudhishthira takes the blame upon "all of us". The verse teaches that the responsiveness of a pure heart is a gift dangerous to itself: it lifts any burden, and all the stricter, then, is the reckoning for those who laid that burden upon it.
