स्मिन्न् काले तु सो ऽच्युतायुर् हाथः
शूले भृतीक्ष्णे तायाम् पाण्डवम्
क्षते क्षारं हि दौ पाण्डस्य हात्मनः
पार्थो ऽपि भृसंविद्धो ध्वष्टिं माश्रितः

etasminn eva le tu so 'cyuyur marathaḥ ||
śūlena bhṛśakṣṇena ḍam āsa ṇḍavam ||
kṣate kṣāraṃ sa hi dadau ṇḍavasya matmanaḥ ||
rtho 'pi bhṛśasaṃviddho dhvajayaṣṭiṃ saśritaḥ ||

Translation

At this very same time that Achyutayus, the great warrior, struck the Pandava with an exceedingly sharp shula-lance. He, as it were, poured salt upon the wound of the great-souled Pandava. Partha, deeply pierced, leaned upon the shaft of the standard.
