शून्यान् कुर्वन् थोस्थान् मावैः संस्तरन् हीम्
प्रानृत्यद् संबाधे चास्तो नंयः
ज्रल्पैः रैर् भूमिं कुर्वन्न् त्तशोणिताम्
प्राविशद् भातीं सेनां संक्रुद्धो वै नंयः
तं श्रुतायुस् थाम्बष्ठो व्रमानं न्यवायत्
स्यार्जुनः रैस् तीक्ष्णैः ङ्कत्ररिच्छदैः
न्यपायद् याञ् शीघ्रं मास्य मारि
नुश् चास्यारैश् छित्त्वा रैः पार्थो विक्रमे

Transliteration (IAST)

śūnyān kurvan rathopasthān mānavaiḥ saṃstaran mahīm ||
prānṛtyad iva saṃdhe pahasto dhanaṃjayaḥ ||
vajrakalpaiḥ śarair bhūmiṃ kurvann uttaraśoṇitām ||
prāviśad bhāratīṃ senāṃ saṃkruddho vai dhanaṃjayaḥ ||
taṃ śruyus tathāmbaṣṭho vrajanaṃ nyarayat ||
tasyārjunaḥ śarais tīkṣṇaiḥ kaṅkapatraparicchadaiḥ ||
nyatayad dhañ śīghraṃ yatanasya riṣa ||
dhanuś cāsyāparaiś chittvā śaraiḥ rtho vicakrame ||

Translation

Emptying the platforms of chariots, strewing the earth with men, as if he danced in the thick [of battle], bow in hand, Dhananjaya, with thunderbolt-like arrows making the earth flooded with blood, entered the army of the Bharatas, enraged, Dhananjaya. His [the king's] horses Arjuna, with sharp arrows fletched with heron feathers, swiftly felled, as he strove, O venerable one.
