यथा स्थलं च निम्नं च न स्याद् वर्षति वासवे ॥
तथासीत् पृथिवी सर्वा शोणितेन परिप्लुता ॥
षट्सहस्रान् वरान् वीरान् पुनर् दशशतान् वरान् ॥
प्राहिणोन् मृत्युलोकाय क्षत्रियान् क्षत्रियर्षभः ॥

yathā sthalaṃ ca nimnaṃ ca na syād varṣati vāsave ||
tathāsīt pṛthivī sarvā śoṇitena pariplutā ||
ṣaṭsahasrān varān vīrān punar daśaśatān varān ||
prāhiṇon mṛtyulokāya kṣatriyān kṣatriyarṣabhaḥ ||

Translation

As [one cannot tell apart] high ground and low when Vasava [Indra] pours down [rain], so was the whole earth flooded with blood. Six thousand of the best heroes, and again a thousand of the best kshatriyas, the bull among kshatriyas sent to the world of death.
