थासीत् पृथिवी र्वा शोणिते रिप्लुता
ट्सस्रान् रान् वीरान् पुनर् तान् रान्
प्राहिणोन् मृत्युलोका क्षत्रियान् क्षत्रिर्षभः

tathāt pṛthi sarvā śoṇitena pariplu ||
ṣaṭsahasrān van vīn punar daśaśan varān ||
prāhiṇon mṛtyuloya kṣatrin kṣatriyarṣabhaḥ ||

Translation

As [one cannot tell apart] high ground and low when Vasava [Indra] pours down [rain], so was the whole earth flooded with blood. Six thousand of the best heroes, and again a thousand of the best kshatriyas, the bull among kshatriyas sent to the world of death.
