द्रोण उवाच
करोतु स्वस्ति ते ब्रह्मा स्वस्ति चापि द्विजातयः ॥
सरीसृपाश् च ये श्रेष्ठास् तेभ्यस् ते स्वस्ति भारत ॥
ययातिर् नहुषश् चैव धुन्धुमारो भगीरथः ॥
तुभ्यं राजर्षयः सर्वे स्वस्ति कुर्वन्तु सर्वशः ॥
स्वस्ति ते ऽस्त्व् एकपादेभ्यो बहुपादेभ्य एव च ॥
स्वस्त्य् अस्त्व् अपादकेभ्यश् च नित्यं तव महारणे ॥
droṇa uvāca
karotu svasti te brahmā svasti cāpi dvijātayaḥ ||
sarīsṛpāś ca ye śreṣṭhās tebhyas te svasti bhārata ||
yayātir nahuṣaś caiva dhundhumāro bhagīrathaḥ ||
tubhyaṃ rājarṣayaḥ sarve svasti kurvantu sarvaśaḥ ||
svasti te 'stv ekapādebhyo bahupādebhya eva ca ||
svasty astv apādakebhyaś ca nityaṃ tava mahāraṇe ||
"May Brahma grant you well-being, and may the twice-born grant well-being, and the best of serpents -- from them well-being to you, O Bharata. Yayati and Nahusha, Dhundhumara, Bhagiratha -- may all the royal sages grant you well-being in every way. Well-being to you from the one-footed, and from the many-footed, and well-being from the footless -- always to you in this great battle."

The svasti, the blessing, begins, invoking good from all that exists: from Brahma, from brahmins, from royal sages, and even "ekapādebhyaḥ... apādakebhyaḥ" -- from one-footed, many-footed, and footless creatures. The goodwill of all creation is called upon. It is telling that the blessing embraces every living thing, down to the least footless creature. The verse teaches the breadth of true benediction: a genuine blessing is not confined but reaches out to all that exists, asking good from every creature; and in this embrace lies the Vedic vision of the oneness of life, where the good of one is bound to the goodwill of all beings.
