यथा च ब्रह्मणा बद्धं संग्रामे तारकामये ॥
शक्रस्य कवचं दिव्यं तथा बध्नाम्य् अहं तव ॥
बद्ध्वा तु कवचं तस्य मन्त्रेण विधिपूर्वकम् ॥
प्रेषयाम् आस राजानं युद्धाय महते द्विजः ॥

śakrasya kavacaṃ divyaṃ tathā badhnāmy ahaṃ tava ||
baddhvā tu kavacaṃ tasya mantreṇa vidhipūrvakam ||
preṣayām āsa rājānaṃ yuddhāya mahate dvijaḥ ||

Translation
"And as the divine armor of Shakra was bound by Brahma in the battle [of the war] of Taraka, so do I bind yours." Having bound his armor with the mantra, according to rite, that brahmin sent the king forth to the great battle.

The vesting is complete according to every rule, invoking the protection of Indra in the war of Taraka. Drona has done all that lies within the power of the greatest of masters. And yet — against Arjuna, at whose side stands Krishna, this armor will not hold, as what follows will show. It is telling that the perfection of the means does not redeem the wrongness of the end. The verse teaches that even a flawlessly performed act, placed in the service of wrong, does not reach its goal: however skillfully the armor of the unrighteous is bound, it is powerless before the will of the Lord; and a teacher's mastery, given to a doomed cause, only delays the inevitable.
