पदातिनं तु कौन्तेयं युध्यमानं नरर्षभाः ॥
नाशक्नुवन् वारयितुं तद् अद्भुतम् इवाभवत् ॥
आपतत्सु रथौघेषु प्रभूतगजवाजिषु ॥
नासंभ्रमत् तदा पार्थस् तद् अस्य पुरुषान् अति ॥

Translation
The bull-like men could not restrain Kaunteya, though on foot, as he fought — that was as if a wonder. When streams of chariots with a multitude of elephants and horses rushed upon him, Partha was not troubled then — that quality in him surpasses all men.

Arjuna on foot is unconquerable even against hosts of horsemen and elephants — 'na aśaknuvan vārayitum.' And, above all, 'na asaṃbhramat,' he was not troubled: composure amid onrushing torrents. It is telling that 'tat asya puruṣān ati,' this surpasses the human. The verse teaches that unshaken spirit is higher than bodily strength: on foot amid mounted hosts he did not waver, for his support lies not in a chariot but in inner firmness and in the God beside him; and composure before a flood of calamities is superhuman, born of devotion.
