ततः शीघ्रतरं प्रायात् पाण्डवः सैन्धवं प्रति ॥
निवर्तमाने तिग्मांशौ हृष्टैः पीतोदकैर् हयैः ॥
तं प्रयान्तं महाबाहुं सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वरम् ॥
नाशक्नुवन् वारयितुं योधाः क्रुद्धम् इवान्तकम् ॥

tataḥ śīghrataraṃ prāyāt pāṇḍavaḥ saindhavaṃ prati ||
nivartamāne tigmāṃśau hṛṣṭaiḥ pītodakair hayaiḥ ||
taṃ prayāntaṃ mahābāhuṃ sarvaśastrabhṛtāṃ varam ||
nāśaknuvan vārayituṃ yodhāḥ kruddham ivāntakam ||

Translation
Then the Pandava rushed still more swiftly toward the Sindhu king, as the fiercely-radiant sun was declining, with joyful, watered horses. The warriors could not restrain him, riding, mighty-armed, the best of all bearers of weapons, as if he were wrathful Antaka.

Time presses — 'nivartamāne tigmāṃśau,' the sun is declining, and Arjuna hastens 'śīghrataram,' still faster, on refreshed horses. The respite has turned into acceleration. It is telling that care for the horses did not delay but hastened the path to the goal. The verse teaches that rightly-timed care pays back a hundredfold: a brief rest, granted out of mercy, restored speed for the decisive dash; and a wise pause for the restoration of strength is not delay but the pledge of swiftness where it matters most.
