वं ते श्रेष्ठ पाण्डवे त्यवादिनि
स्माकं नं व्यक्तं नं प्रति वेत् पुनः
सो ऽयं यो व्यक्तं व्यर्थ विष्यति
दि द्रोणो णे क्रुद्धो निगृह्णीयाद् युधिष्ठिरम्
त्वम् द्य हाबाहो प्रियार्थं मा
यार्थं शोर्थं क्ष राजानम् वे

evaṃ gate naraśreṣṭha ṇḍave satyadini ||
asmākaṃ gamanaṃ vyaktaṃ vanaṃ prati bhavet punaḥ ||
so 'yaṃ mama jayo vyaktaṃ vyartha eva bhaviṣyati ||
yadi droṇo raṇe kruddho nigṛhṇīd yudhiṣṭhiram ||
sa tvam adya maho prirthaṃ mama dhava ||
jarthaṃ ca yaśorthaṃ ca rakṣa nam āhave ||

जयार्थम् च यशोर्थं चjayārtham ca yaśorthaṃ caand for the sake of victory, and for the sake of glory; and for victory, and for glory
रक्ष राजानम् आहवेrakṣa rājānam āhaveguard the king in battle; protect the king in the fight
Translation

'With such a turn of events, O best of men, with the truthful son of Pandu — our exile to the forest would plainly come again to pass. That victory of mine will clearly prove futile, if Drona, enraged in battle, seizes Yudhishthira. Therefore you now, O mighty-armed one, for love of me, O Madhava, and for the sake of victory and glory, guard the king in battle.'
