काम्बोजसैन्यं विद्राव्य दुर्जयं युधि भारत ॥
यवनानां च तत् सैन्यं शकानां च महद् बलम् ॥
स ततः पुरुषव्याघ्रः सात्यकिः सत्यविक्रमः ॥
प्रहृष्टस् तावकाञ् जित्वा सूतं याहीत्य् अचोदयत् ॥
तं यान्तं पृष्ठगोप्तारम् अर्जुनस्य विशां पते ॥
चारणाः प्रेक्ष्य संहृष्टास् त्वदीयाश् चाप्य् अपूजयन् ॥
kāmbojasainyaṃ vidrāvya durjayaṃ yudhi bhārata ||
yavanānāṃ ca tat sainyaṃ śakānāṃ ca mahad balam ||
sa tataḥ puruṣavyāghraḥ sātyakiḥ satyavikramaḥ ||
prahṛṣṭas tāvakāñ jitvā sūtaṃ yāhīty acodayat ||
taṃ yāntaṃ pṛṣṭhagoptāram arjunasya viśāṃ pate ||
cāraṇāḥ prekṣya saṃhṛṣṭās tvadīyāś cāpy apūjayan ||
Having put to flight the army of the Kambojas, hard to conquer in battle, O Bharata, and that army of the Yavanas, and the great host of the Shakas, he then, the tiger among men, Satyaki of true valor, rejoicing at having overcome your warriors, commanded the charioteer, "Drive on!" Him, riding on as the guardian of Arjuna's rear, O lord of peoples, the charanas, beholding him, rejoiced, and even your own men praised him.

Satyaki is named "pṛṣṭhagoptāram arjunasya", guardian of Arjuna's rear: all his valor is service to a friend. And he is praised by "cāraṇāḥ... tvadīyāś ca api", even by the celestial bards and by your own warriors. It is notable that valor offered in love wins praise even across the line of enmity. The verse teaches that the greatest valor lies in service, not self-exaltation: one who fights to shield the one he loves is praised alike by the gods and by his foes, for the beauty of devoted love speaks to every heart.
