हन्तास्मि वृषसेनं ते प्रेक्षमाणस्य संयुगे ॥
ये चान्ये ऽप्य् यास्यन्ति बुद्धिमोहे मां नृपाः
तांश् र्वान् निष्यामि त्येनायुधम् भे
त्वां मूढाकृप्रज्ञम् तिमानिनम् वे
दृष्ट्वा दुर्योनो न्दो भृशं प्स्यति पातितम्
र्जुने प्रतिज्ञाते धे र्णसुस्य तु
हान् सुतुमुलः ब्दो भू थिनां दा

hantāsmi vṛṣasenaṃ te prekṣamāṇasya saṃyuge ||
ye nye 'py upasyanti buddhimohena māṃ nṛpāḥ ||
tāṃś ca sarvān haniṣyāmi satyeyudham ālabhe ||
tvāṃ ca ḍhākṛtaprajñam atininam āhave ||
dṛṣṭvā duryodhano mando bhṛśaṃ tapsyati titam ||
arjunena pratijñāte vadhe karṇasutasya tu ||
man sutumulaḥ śabdo babhūva rathināṃ ta ||

Translation

"I will slay your Vrishasena before you, looking on, in the clash, and those other kings who, through delusion of mind, will approach me. And seeing you, deluded and unwise, arrogant in battle, fallen — the foolish Duryodhana will grieve bitterly." When Arjuna had thus vowed the slaying of Karna's son, a great tumultuous roar rose up among the warriors then.
