Half a line, and it states that the five-syllable mantra is brahma-upadeśa, «teaching about Brahman». Worth unpacking the word upadeśa, for in these books it is a precise word. It is formed from upa, «near», and diś, «to point»: literally «pointing from close by». That is, not exposition and not proof, but — pointing with a finger, standing beside.
This definition is worth holding onto, for it explains why these traditions hold so firmly to a living teacher. One can only point from close by to someone who is close by; at a distance one does not point, one describes. The Vaishnava side uses this word the same way, and Rūpa Gosvāmī's famous work is called Upadeśāmṛta, «Nectar of Instructions»; and it consists wholly of short pointers, not arguments.
Worth noting too that the teaching about Brahman is named as a mantra, not a doctrine. That is, the highest is taught not as a proposition to be understood but as a word to be uttered. This distinction, to my mind, is the chief difference between two ways of teaching. One teaching is passed on by understanding, and so is available to those who understand; the other by utterance, and so is available to all. And this book, for all its caste-bound character, stands here on the second side.
