Here a watchman hastens to bring what he has learned to his father. Dhrishtadyumna's diligence is telling: having scouted everything, he hurries without delay to his father — a dutiful son does not tarry with news that matters to his lineage. Here is fidelity to duty before father and family. So the scripture reveals the prince's diligence, and the news he bears will fill Drupada's heart with both anxiety and hope.
