दुर्योधन तव प्रज्ञा न सम्यग् इति मे मतिः ॥
न ह्य् उपायेन ते शक्याः पाण्डवाः कुरुनन्दन ॥
पूर्वम् एव हि ते सूक्ष्मैर् उपायैर् यतितास् त्वया ॥
निग्रहीतुं यदा वीर शकिता न तदा त्वया ॥

Traducción
Karna said: "Duryodhana, your judgment is not sound, in my opinion; for by stratagem you cannot overcome the Pandavas, O joy of the Kurus; for even before, you strove with subtle stratagems to restrain them, O hero, but could not succeed then."

Here even a rival warrior rejects deceit as futile. It is telling that Karna, no stranger to guile himself, plainly condemns such stratagems: even in the enemy's camp there is a voice that recoils from baseness. Here we see the truth that the valiant find deception repugnant, however unjust the cause it serves. Thus the scripture reveals a relative nobility in Karna; and the record of past failures testifies to the futility of scheming against those protected from above.
