Here Karna raises valor to the supreme virtue of a kshatriya. It is telling that he is right in general: valor is indeed the warrior's own dharma. But it must be remembered: valor is sacred only in service to dharma; turned against the innocent, it degenerates into violence. Here a half-truth reveals itself, dangerous precisely because a true premise leads to an unjust act. Thus the scripture shows how virtue without discernment between good and evil becomes an instrument of adharma.
