Here the bride-to-be shows piety before a wondrous event. It is significant that Subhadra first honors the deities and asks for the brahmins' blessing: a virtuous woman sanctifies even an ordinary path with reverence. This shows that piety precedes a blessed fate. Thus the scripture reveals Subhadra's good character; and in the hour of her devout return, what was destined comes to pass — union with Arjuna.
