Here the comparison reveals the essence of the bond: Krishna amid the Pandavas is like a guru amid disciples. It is significant that the image named is not a king among subjects nor a commander among warriors, but a teacher among loving disciples: the bond with the Lord is above all discipleship of the heart. Thus scripture shows Krishna as the center of the family; and the moment of parting now arrives.
