Traducción

Shalya said: 'Having heard these words of the great Rishis, the illustrious Asura addressed them: "Without doubt, the Rishis, endowed with supernatural powers, deserve my respect. Let what I am about to say, O gods, be fulfilled in its entirety; then I shall do all that these best of brahmanas have told me. You, lords of the brahmana race, ordain that neither Indra himself nor the gods shall kill me with anything dry or wet; with stone or wood; with a weapon fit for close combat, or a missile; by day, or by night. On these terms, eternal peace with Indra would be acceptable to me." "Very well!" said the Rishis to him, O best of the Bharata race. Thus peace was concluded, and Vritra was greatly pleased. And Indra too was pleased, though he was constantly occupied with thoughts of killing Vritra.
