एकैकशस् ते संग्रामे हन्युः सर्वान् महीक्षितः ॥
प्रत्यक्षं तव राजेन्द्र राजसूये यथाभवत् ॥
द्रौपद्याश् च परिक्लेशं द्यूते च परुषा गिरः ॥
ते संस्मरन्तः संग्रामे विचरिष्यन्ति कालवत् ॥
लोहिताक्षो गुडाकेशो नारायणसहायवान् ॥
उभयोः सेनयोर् वीर रथो नास्तीह तादृशः ॥
न हि देवेषु वा पूर्वं दानवेषूरगेषु वा ॥
राक्षसेष्व् अथ यक्षेषु नरेषु कुत एव तु ॥
भूतो ऽथ वा भविष्यो वा रथः कश् चिन् मया श्रुतः ॥
समायुक्तो महाराज यथा पार्थस्य धीमतः ॥

bhūto 'tha vā bhaviṣyo vā rathaḥ kaś cin mayā śrutaḥ ||
samāyukto mahārāja yathā pārthasya dhīmataḥ ||
'Each of them alone could kill all the kings in battle; this was manifest to you yourself, O lord of kings, as happened at the Rajasuya. Remembering the torment of Draupadi and the harsh words spoken at the game of dice, they will range through the battle like Time itself. Red-eyed Gudakesha, having Narayana as his helper — O hero, among both armies there is no ratha like him here. Neither among the gods of old, nor among the danavas and serpents, nor among the rakshasas, nor among the yakshas, still less among men, have I heard of any ratha, past or future, so equipped as the wise Partha, O great king.'

Bhishma sharply checks Karna, but he does so to preserve the army: before a battle begins, discord within is more dangerous than the enemy without. His subsequent speech about the Pandavas then reads as a sober warning to Duryodhana. He lists not only their strength, stature, and weapons but also the memory of Draupadi's humiliation and the dice game — precisely this memory will fuel their fighting. A special place is given to Arjuna together with Krishna: here the ratha is assessed not merely as a warrior but as an entire fighting reality, in which charioteer, weapons, horses, armor, astras, and inner resolve are joined into a single force.
