इत्य् उक्तो वासुदेवेन तिर्यग्दृष्टिर् अधोमुखः ॥
अकाम इव बीभत्सुर् इदं वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥
अवध्यानां वधं कृत्वा राज्यं वा नरकोत्तरम् ॥
दुःखानि वनवासे वा किं नु मे सुकृतं भवेत् ॥
चोदयाश्वान् यतो भीष्मः करिष्ये वचनं तव ॥
पातयिष्यामि दुर्धर्षं वृद्धं कुरुपितामहम् ॥
ततो ऽश्वान् रजतप्रख्यांश् चोदयाम् आस माधवः ॥
यतो भीष्मस् ततो राजन् दुष्प्रेक्ष्यो रश्मिवान् इव ॥

akāma iva bībhatsur idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||
avadhyānāṃ vadhaṃ kṛtvā rājyaṃ vā narakottaram ||
duḥkhāni vanavāse vā kiṃ nu me sukṛtaṃ bhavet ||
codayāśvān yato bhīṣmaḥ kariṣye vacanaṃ tava ||
pātayiṣyāmi durdharṣaṃ vṛddhaṃ kurupitāmaham ||
tato 'śvān rajataprakhyāṃś codayām āsa mādhavaḥ ||
yato bhīṣmas tato rājan duṣprekṣyo raśmivān iva ||

Traducción

Hearing this from Vasudeva, Bibhatsu, gazing sidelong with his face bowed down, spoke as if against his own will: 'If I slay those who should not be slain, would a kingdom worse than hell be better for me than the sorrows of forest exile? But drive the horses to where Bhishma is. I will do as you say. I will bring down the unassailable, aged grandsire of the Kurus.' Then Madhava drove the silvery horses to where Bhishma was, O king, blinding as the radiant sun.'
