Дурьодхана
तथा तु दृष्ट्वा योधास् ते प्रहृष्टौ कृष्णपाण्डवौ ॥
हतो राजा हतो राजेत्य् ऊचुर् एवं भयार्दिताः ॥
जनस्य संनिनादं तु श्रुत्वा दुर्योधनो ऽब्रवीत् ॥
व्येतु वो भीर् अहं कृष्णौ प्रेषयिष्यामि मृत्यवे ॥
इत्य् उक्त्वा सैनिकान् सर्वाञ् जयापेक्षी नराधिपः ॥
पार्थम् आभाष्य संरम्भाद् इदं वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥
tathā tu dṛṣṭvā yodhās te prahṛṣṭau kṛṣṇapāṇḍavau ||
hato rājā hato rājety ūcur evaṃ bhayārditāḥ ||
janasya saṃninādaṃ tu śrutvā duryodhano 'bravīt ||
vyetu vo bhīr ahaṃ kṛṣṇau preṣayiṣyāmi mṛtyave ||
ity uktvā sainikān sarvāñ jayāpekṣī narādhipaḥ ||
pārtham ābhāṣya saṃrambhād idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||
Thus seeing the joyful Krishna and Pandava, those warriors, tormented by fear, said: "The king is slain, the king is slain!" But hearing the people's clamor, Duryodhana said: "Let your fear depart; I shall send the two Krishnas to death." Having said this to all his soldiers, the king, hoping for victory, turned to Partha in fury and spoke this word.

Duryodhana remains defiant to the last: "I shall send the two Krishnas to death" -- a threat against the Lord Himself. Trusting in his armor, he imagines he can overcome God. It is telling how boundless the blindness of pride has become. The verse teaches that the limit of intoxication with power is the audacity to threaten God Himself: the blinded man imagines he can send the Lord to death; and in this boast there is no strength, only the summit of delusion, for one who threatens God with death already stands at the threshold of his own destruction.
