He, the rakshasa, struck again and again by Bhimasena, abandoning Bhima in the battle, rushed toward the army of Drona. But when that lord of the rakshasas was vanquished by the great-souled one, O king, the Pandavas filled every direction with lion-roars and, rejoicing, honored the mighty son of the Wind — as the hosts of Maruts honored Shakra when he had conquered Prahlada in battle.

Bhima, having overcome the demonic delusion, is honored by the Pandavas as the Maruts honored Indra when he struck down Prahlada: victory over evil is a shared joy and a shared glory. It is telling that what is celebrated is not destruction for its own sake, but deliverance from the delusion that oppressed everyone. The verse teaches that the conquest of evil is a merit in which the whole righteous assembly rejoices together; and he who has dispelled a delusion threatening many rightly receives praise, as does everyone who has served the triumph of dharma over darkness.
