विद्ध्वा रे द्रोणं सिंनादम् मुञ्च
तं वै मृषे द्रोणः र्वस्त्रभृतां रः
थः क्तिं गृहीत्वा तु रुक्मण्डाम् स्मयीम्
सा प्रेयाम् मास्य थं प्रति
नासाद्य तु शैनेयं सा क्तिः कासंनिभा
भित्त्वा थं गामोग्रा णीं दारुस्वना

sa viddhvā samare droṇaṃ siṃhadam amuñcata ||
taṃ vai na mamṛṣe droṇaḥ sarvaśastrabhṛtāṃ varaḥ ||
tathaḥ śaktiṃ gṛtvā tu rukmadaṇḍām ayasmayīm ||
tara preṣam āsa dhavasya rathaṃ prati ||
adya tu śaineyaṃ śaktiḥ lasaṃnibhā ||
bhittvā rathaṃ jamogrā dharaṇīṃ ruṇasva ||

Traducción

He, having pierced Drona in the battle, let loose a lion's roar; that Drona, the foremost of all wielders of weapons, could not endure. Then, seizing a spear with a golden shaft, made of iron, he swiftly sped it at Madhava's chariot. Not reaching Shaineya, that spear, resembling Time itself, pierced the chariot and passed, dreadful, into the earth with a terrible roar.
