यदा तु विशिखैस् तीक्ष्णैर् द्रोणचापविनिःसृतैः ॥
वध्यन्ते समरे वीराः शतशो ऽथ सहस्रशः ॥
ततो रथाद् अवप्लुत्य वेगम् आस्थाय पाण्डवः ॥
निमील्य नयने राजन् पदातिर् द्रोणम् अभ्ययात् ॥
यथा हि गोवृषो वर्षं प्रतिगृह्णाति लीलया ॥
तथा भीमो नरव्याघ्रः शरवर्षं समग्रहीत् ॥
स वध्यमानः समरे रथं द्रोणस्य मारिष ॥
ईषायां पाणिना गृह्य प्रचिक्षेप महाबलः ॥

vadhyante samare vīrāḥ śataśo 'tha sahasraśaḥ ||
tato rathād avaplutya vegam āsthāya pāṇḍavaḥ ||
nimīlya nayane rājan padātir droṇam abhyayāt ||
yathā hi govṛṣo varṣaṃ pratigṛhṇāti līlayā ||
tathā bhīmo naravyāghraḥ śaravarṣaṃ samagrahīt ||
sa vadhyamānaḥ samare rathaṃ droṇasya māriṣa ||
īṣāyāṃ pāṇinā gṛhya pracikṣepa mahābalaḥ ||

Traducción

When heroes by the hundreds and thousands were struck down in battle by the sharp arrows flying from Drona's bow, then, leaping down from his chariot and gathering speed, the son of Pandu, closing his eyes, O king, went on foot against Drona. As a bull takes a downpour in stride, so did Bhima, the tiger among men, take the downpour of arrows.
