न्योन्यं प्रजिहीर्षन्ताव् न्योन्यस्यान्तरैषिणौ
न्योन्यम् भिवीक्षन्तौ गोष्ठेष्व् र्षभौ
हाजाव् वासाद्य विषाणाग्रैः स्परम्
रैः पूर्णातोत्सृष्टैर् न्योन्यम् भिघ्नतुः
निर्दन्तौ हारा वृष्ट्या स्परम्
न्योन्यम् भिवीक्षन्तौ कोपाद् विवृलोनौ
प्रन्तौ थान्योन्यं र्त्सन्तौ मुहुर् मुहुः
ङ्खब्दं कुर्वाणौ युयुधाते स्परम्

magav idya viṣāṇāgraiḥ parasparam ||
śaraiḥ rṇāyatotsṛṣṭair anyonyam abhijaghnatuḥ ||
nirdahantau maja śaravṛṣṭyā parasparam ||
anyonyam abhikṣantau kod vivṛtalocanau ||
prahasantau tathānyonyaṃ bhartsayantau muhur muhuḥ ||

"Each seeking to strike the other, each seeking out the other's weakness, staring fixedly at one another like two mighty bulls in cattle-pens; like two great elephants, having met with the tips of their tusks, they struck one another with arrows released at full draw. Consuming one another with a shower of arrows, O great king, staring at one another with eyes wide from wrath, mocking each other and threatening again and again, blowing their conches, they battled one another."
