तु तं विथं कृत्वा स्मयन्न् त्यन्तवैरिणम्
माचिनोद् बाणैः घ्नीम् ङ्कुभिः
थाप्य् तिथः र्णो भिद्यमानः स्म साकैः
हौ रे भीमं क्रुद्धरूपं रंपः

sa tu taṃ virathaṃ kṛtvā smayann atyantavairiṇam ||
sacinod bāṇagaṇaiḥ śataghnīm iva śaṅkubhiḥ ||
tathāpy atirathaḥ karṇo bhidyanaḥ sma yakaiḥ ||
na jahau samare bhīmaṃ kruddhapaṃ paraṃtapaḥ ||

Traducción

"He [Bhima], having unhorsed his sworn enemy, smiling, covered him with masses of arrows, as a shataghni is covered with spikes. And yet the atiratha Karna, scorcher of foes, though pierced by arrows, did not abandon the fearsome Bhima in that battle."
