धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
साङ्गा वेदा यथान्यायं येनाधीता महात्मना ॥
यस्मिन् साक्षाद् धनुर्वेदो ह्रीनिषेधे प्रतिष्ठितः ॥
तस्मिन्न् आक्रुश्यति द्रोणे महर्षितनये तदा ॥
नीचात्मना नृशंसेन क्षुद्रेण गुरुघातिना ॥

sāṅgā vedā yathānyāyaṃ yenādhītā mahātmanā ||
yasmin sākṣād dhanurvedo hrīniṣedhe pratiṣṭhitaḥ ||
tasminn ākruśyati droṇe maharṣitanaye tadā ||
nīcātmanā nṛśaṃsena kṣudreṇa gurughātinā ||

Traducción

[Dhritarashtra said:] 'He by whom, as a great soul, the Vedas with their limbs were studied according to rule, in whom the science of the bow (dhanurveda) was visibly established within [the restraint of] modesty — when that one, Drona, son of the great sage, is reviled — then, [it is done by] one base of soul, cruel, contemptible, a killer of the guru, [Dhrishtadyumna].'
