अयं काल इति ज्ञात्वा कुन्ती समुपसृत्य तान् ॥
गतासून् अमृतेनेव जीवयन्तीदम् अब्रवीत् ॥

Here, at the hour of extreme need, the savior appears. The comparison is striking: Kunti's word, for those in despair, is 'like nectar reviving the lifeless'; help arrives when human strength has been exhausted. Here is an image of mercy descending in the darkest hour: where a person has exhausted both argument and tears, there the door to deliverance opens. Kunti's sense of timing is also notable: 'this is the moment' — the wise one offers help neither too soon nor too late, but precisely when it is most needed. Thus the verse shows that providence waits until the limit of despair, so that mercy may shine forth all the more clearly; and Kunti's nectar-like word prepares the miracle of the brahmin family's rescue.
