स हि द्वादश वर्षाणि वसिष्ठस्यैव तेजसा ॥
ग्रस्त आसीद् गृहेणेव पर्वकाले दिवाकरः ॥
रक्षसा विप्रमुक्तो ऽथ स नृपस् तद् वनं महत् ॥
तेजसा रञ्जयाम् आस संध्याभ्रम् इव भास्करः ॥

अनुवाद
"For twelve years he was held by the power of Vasishtha's curse, as the sun is seized by Rahu at the time of eclipse; but freed from the rakshasa, that king illumined the great forest with his radiance, as the sun illumines a twilight cloud."

Here the freed man regains his own radiance. The comparison to an eclipse is telling: the king was darkened by evil as the sun is by Rahu, and now shines again — his true nature was only hidden, not lost. Here is an image of the soul: darkened by evil or ignorance, it dims, but once purified, it shows forth its light again. Thus the text reveals that evil is only a temporary veil over one's essence; and the king, casting it off, shines like the sun once the eclipse has passed.
