अर्जुन उवाच
अस्माकम् अनुरूपो वै यः स्याद् गन्धर्व वेदवित् ॥
पुरोहितस् तम् आचक्ष्व सर्वं हि विदितं तव ॥
गन्धर्व उवाच
यवीयान् देवलस्यैष वने भ्राता तपस्यति ॥
धौम्य उत्कोचके तीर्थे तं वृणुध्वं यदीच्छथ ॥
arjuna uvāca
asmākam anurūpo vai yaḥ syād gandharva vedavit ||
purohitas tam ācakṣva sarvaṃ hi viditaṃ tava ||
gandharva uvāca
yavīyān devalasyaiṣa vane bhrātā tapasyati ||
dhaumya utkocake tīrthe taṃ vṛṇudhvaṃ yadīcchatha ||
Arjuna said: "Name for us the knower of the Veda who would be worthy of us, O gandharva, as our purohita; for all is known to you." The gandharva [said]: "The younger brother of Devala dwells there in the forest, practicing austerities -- Dhaumya, at the tirtha of Utkocaka; choose him, if you wish."

Here instruction turns into deed. It is telling that the Pandavas, having heard of the importance of a purohita, at once seek out one worthy of the office: a good word, received into the heart, does not remain barren but is translated into action. This is the mark of a true disciple -- not merely to hear, but to carry out what has been heard. Thus scripture shows that wisdom turned into action bears fruit; and the Pandavas, instructed by the gandharva, set about choosing their spiritual guide.
