Here the guru's blessing precedes a great undertaking. It is telling that the teacher foresees in them future kings and blesses them on their way: a saint's word about what is to come is both foretelling and send-off. Here it is shown that every good deed should rightly begin with a blessing: sanctified by it, the deed comes to fruition. Telling too is the brothers' unity of mind -- "resolved to go together": they set out in accord, under the guru's protection. Thus scripture shows the threshold of their ascent; and the Pandavas, blessed by Dhaumya, set out for the svayamvara, where they will win Draupadi and a turn of fate.
