गृह्णातु विधिवत् पाणिम् अद्यैव कुरुनन्दनः ॥
पुण्ये ऽहनि महाबाहुर् अर्जुनः कुरुतां क्षणम् ॥

Here the father, rejoicing, hastens toward the marriage of the victor. It is significant that Drupada calls upon Arjuna, who won the maiden, to wed her at once: he longs for precisely the son-in-law he had dreamed of. Here is a father's natural expectation: the daughter belongs to the victor. Thus the text reveals Drupada's burst of joy; and Yudhishthira's unexpected answer will turn the matter otherwise.
