देवनागरी
अथवा कुशलाः के चिद् उपायनिपुणा नराः ॥
इतरेतरतः पार्थान् भेदयन्त्व् अनुरागतः ॥
व्युत्थापयन्तु वा कृष्णां बहुत्वात् सुकरं हि तत् ॥
अथवा पाण्डवांस् तस्यां भेदयन्तु ततश् च ताम् ॥

Here malice tries to defile even conjugal love. It is telling that Duryodhana imagines the bond of the five as an easy target for discord: an impure mind sees everything as impure and does not believe in purity. Here his blindness is exposed: he does not know that Draupadi is a faithful goddess and the brothers are inseparable, and his schemes will shatter against their purity. Thus the text reveals the futility of a plot against a sacred union; and slander is powerless where true love reigns.
