देवनागरी
तस्यां तु वानरो दिव्यः सिंहशार्दूललक्षणः ॥
विनर्दन्न् इव तत्रस्थः संस्थितो मूर्ध्न्य् अशोभत ॥
ध्वजे भूतानि तत्रासन् विविधानि महान्ति च ॥
नादेन रिपुसैन्यानां येषां संज्ञा प्रणश्यति ॥

Upon it there was a wondrous monkey, marked like a lion and a tiger, as if roaring, standing there, mounted at the top of the staff, it shone; on the banner there were beings, various and mighty, at whose roar the minds of hostile armies perish.

Here on Arjuna's banner is a wondrous guardian, a terror to enemies. It is significant that at the roar of the beings on the banner 'the minds of hostile armies perish': the very standard of the hero strikes dread into the foe. A blessed banner carries an unseen power. Thus the scripture reveals the fearsome banner of Arjuna; and the monkey upon it foretells the part of Hanuman, kinsman to Bhima.
