देवनागरी
शरीरैः संप्रदीप्तैश् च देहवन्त इवाग्नयः ॥
अदृश्यन्त वने तस्मिन् प्राणिनः प्राणसंक्षये ॥

Here the burning bodies of the creatures themselves come to resemble flames. It is a mournful comparison: the dying themselves become as fire. Here is the dreadful beauty of destruction, behind which stands the death of the living. Thus scripture reveals an image of death, and to the beholder it instills detachment from the transient body.
