Here the laying of the foundation is preceded by feeding the brahmins and distributing gifts. It is significant that before stone and measure comes the satisfying of the wise and generosity: blessing consecrates the foundation more surely than any calculation. And the very plan -- an area of ten thousand measures, partaking of the qualities of all seasons -- points to a dwelling beyond this world, where no single season holds sway. Thus scripture shows the consecrated foundation of the palace; and next the building of the Mayasabha itself will unfold.
