रत्नभाजो हि राजानो जरासंधम् उपासते ॥
न च तुष्यति तेनापि बाल्याद् अनयम् आस्थितः ॥
मूर्धाभिषिक्तं नृपतिं प्रधानपुरुषं बलात् ॥
आदत्ते न च नो दृष्टो ऽभागः पुरुषतः क्व चित् ॥

अनुवाद
"Kings possessed of treasures serve Jarasandha, but even with that he is not content, abiding in lawlessness through folly; he seizes by force an anointed sovereign, a foremost man, and nowhere have we seen any rescue from his power."

Here the insatiability of the tyrant is revealed: submission and gifts are not enough for him — he encroaches upon anointed kings themselves. It is significant that lawlessness knows no measure: one who permits himself injustice will not stop there. Thus the scripture reveals that evil, meeting no barrier, grows without limit; and further — of the bitter fate of the captives.
