देवनागरी
दैन्यं यथाबलवति तथा मोहो बलान्विते ॥
ताव् उभौ नाशकौ हेतू राज्ञा त्याज्यौ जयार्थिना ॥

Here two ruinous states are named outright: despondency and delusion. Tellingly, Arjuna, without naming his brother, gently points to his faintheartedness: one seeking victory must cast off both fear and clouded judgment. Scripture thus shows vigor of spirit and clarity of mind to be conditions of success; what follows is a call to the good deed.
