"Burning with indignation for the sake of kinsmen, in noble garments, with bodies like the sun, the moon, and fire -- fearsome was then their form. Everyone deemed Jarasandha [already] struck down, having seen, with Bhima in front, the two Krishnas, unconquered in battle, intent on a single purpose; for those two great-souled lords hold sway both in the initiation of all deeds [of dharma, artha, kama] and in the suppression of [unrighteous] deeds."

Here the two Krishnas are called lords both in the accomplishment of good and in the suppression of wrong. It is significant that the Lord and His companion not only uphold dharma but also restrain adharma: mercy and chastisement are the two hands of one righteousness. Thus scripture shows the fullness of divine rule; and further on -- the path eastward.
