इदं तु त्वां कुरुराजो ऽभ्युवाच; पूर्वं पृष्ट्वा कुशलं चाव्ययं च ॥
इयं सभा त्वत्सभातुल्यरूपा; भ्रातॄणां ते पश्य ताम् एत्य पुत्र ॥
समागम्य भ्रातृभिः पार्थ तस्यां; सुहृद्द्यूतं क्रियतां रम्यतां च ॥
प्रीयामहे भवतः संगमेन; समागताः कुरवश् चैव सर्वे ॥
दुरोदरा विहिता ये तु तत्र; महात्मना धृतराष्ट्रेण राज्ञा ॥
तान् द्रक्ष्यसे कितवान् संनिविष्टान्; इत्य् आगतो ऽहं नृपते तज् जुषस्व ॥

tān drakṣyase kitavān saṃniviṣṭān; ity āgato 'haṃ nṛpate taj juṣasva ||

इयं सभा त्वत्-सभा-तुल्य-रूपाiyaṃ sabhā tvat-sabhā-tulya-rūpā"This hall, equal in form to your own,
भ्रातॄणां ते पश्य ताम् एत्य पुत्रbhrātṝṇāṃ te paśya tām etya putrabelongs to your brothers; come and see it, O son.
समागम्य भ्रातृभिः पार्थ तस्यांsamāgamya bhrātṛbhiḥ pārtha tasyāṃMeeting with your brothers there, O Partha,
सुहृद्-द्यूतं क्रियतां रम्यतां चsuhṛd-dyūtaṃ kriyatāṃ ramyatāṃ calet a friendly game be held, and take your pleasure;
प्रीयामहे भवतः संगमेनprīyāmahe bhavataḥ saṃgamenawe shall rejoice at meeting you,
समागताः कुरवश् चैव सर्वेsamāgatāḥ kuravaś caiva sarvefor all the Kurus too have gathered;
दुरोदरा विहिता ये तु तत्रdurodarā vihitā ye tu tatrathe gamblers who have been arranged there
महात्मना धृतराष्ट्रेण राज्ञाmahātmanā dhṛtarāṣṭreṇa rājñāby the great-souled King Dhritarashtra —
तान् द्रक्ष्यसे कितवान् संनिविष्टान्tān drakṣyase kitavān saṃniviṣṭānthem you will see seated;"

अनुवाद

[Vidura conveys Dhritarashtra's words:] 'The king of Kuru addressed you thus, having first asked about your well-being and abiding [health]: "This hall, equal in form to your own, belongs to your brothers; come and see it, O son. Meeting with your brothers there, O Partha, hold a friendly game and take your pleasure; we shall rejoice at meeting you, for all the Kurus too have gathered. And the gamblers arranged there by the great-souled King Dhritarashtra—you will see them seated." So have I come, O sovereign; accept this.'
