The image of Draupadi's departure is indelible: the single blood-stained garment and the unbound hair are visible testimony to her humiliation, carried by her before the world not as her own shame but as an indictment of the Kauravas. The unbound locks, touched by an insolent hand, remain undone -- a silent vow and a sentence that will be resolved only by the offender's blood. Thus the one who has suffered injustice carries its mark with her, that it may cry out until the hour of retribution. The verse teaches that the marks of humiliation on the innocent stand as evidence against the one who inflicted them; that some signs of sorrow the righteous bear not for pity but as a pledge of coming justice; and that the blood-stained robe of an exiled queen will become the banner beneath which retribution gathers.
