ततः शतसहस्राणि शराणाम् नतपर्वणाम् चिक्षिपुः समरे वीराः मयि शाल्वपदानुगाःtataḥ śatasahasrāṇi śarāṇām nataparvaṇām cikṣipuḥ samare vīrāḥ mayi śālvapadānugāḥthen the heroes following in Shalva's train hurled at me in battle hundreds of thousands of arrows with bent joints

न हयाः न रथः वीर न यन्ता मम दारुकः अदृश्यन्त शरैः छन्नाः तथा अहम् सैनिकाः च मेna hayāḥ na rathaḥ vīra na yantā mama dārukaḥ adṛśyanta śaraiḥ channāḥ tathā aham sainikāḥ ca meneither the horses, nor the chariot, O hero, nor my charioteer Daruka could be seen, covered as they were with arrows; so too I and my soldiers
ततः अहम् अपि कौरव्य शराणाम् अयुतान् बहून् अभिमन्त्रितानाम् धनुषा दिव्येन विधिना अक्षिपम्tataḥ aham api kauravya śarāṇām ayutān bahūn abhimantritānām dhanuṣā divyena vidhinā akṣipamthen I too, O Kauravya, loosed many tens of thousands of arrows consecrated on the bow by divine rule
न तत्र विषयः तु आसीत् मम सैन्यस्य भारत खे विषक्तम् हि तत् सौभम् क्रोशमात्रः इव अभवत्na tatra viṣayaḥ tu āsīt mama sainyasya bhārata khe viṣaktam hi tat saubham krośamātraḥ iva abhavatmy army had no access there, O Bharata, for Saubha hung in the sky at about the distance of a krosha
