'And these thousands of razor-like arrows, with hair-fine feathers, Vairati, are the arrows of Arjuna, like serpent venom. In battle they blaze with radiance, swift in flight, and for the hero they become inexhaustible when he arrays himself against foes. And these broad, long ones, seen like half the disk of the moon, are the sharp arrows of Bhima, destroyers of enemies. These of yellow hue, with golden tails, honed on stone, are the quiver of Nakula, marked with five tigers. With them the wise son of Madri conquered the whole western region in battle. And these, resembling the sun, entirely of iron, variegated and fitted for their purpose, belong to the wise Sahadeva. These sharp, yellow, broad arrows, in long wrappings, with golden tails and three joints, are the great arrows of the king. This long arrow with a stone back and stone point belongs to Arjuna, sturdy in battle and able to bear a heavy load. The great arrow in the tiger-skin case belongs to Bhimasena, divine, able to withstand weight and terrible to enemies. The excellent sword with a fine edge, a variegated sheath, and a golden hilt is the sword of the wise Kaurava Dharmaraja. The one lying in a sheath with five claws, on a variegated strap, is the sword of Nakula, sturdy and able to withstand a heavy load. And this pure sword, placed in a leather sheath, know as the sword of Sahadeva, sturdy and able to bear every burden.'

The listing of weapons restores to each brother his particular service. In the unity of the Pandavas there is no facelessness: each has his own strength and his own way of guarding dharma.
