उपाख्यानम् इदं शक्रविजयं वेदसंमितम् ॥
राज्ञा व्यूढेष्व् अनीकेषु श्रोतव्यं जयम् इच्छता ॥
तस्मात् संश्रावयामि त्वां विजयं जयतां वर ॥
संस्तूयमाना वर्धन्ते महात्मानो युधिष्ठिर ॥
क्षत्रियाणाम् अभावो ऽयं युधिष्ठिर महात्मनाम् ॥
दुर्योधनापराधेन भीमार्जुनबलेन च ॥
आख्यानम् इन्द्रविजयं य इदं नियतः पठेत् ॥
धूतपाप्मा जितस्वर्गः स प्रेत्येह च मोदते ॥
न चारिजं भयं तस्य न चापुत्रो भवेन् नरः ॥
नापदं प्राप्नुयात् कां चिद् दीर्घम् आयुश् च विन्दति ॥
सर्वत्र जयम् आप्नोति न कदा चित् पराजयम् ॥

na cārijaṃ bhayaṃ tasya na cāputro bhaven naraḥ ||
nāpadaṃ prāpnuyāt kāṃ cid dīrgham āyuś ca vindati ||
sarvatra jayam āpnoti na kadā cit parājayam ||
Great souls flourish when they are praised. O Yudhishthira, the destruction of the noble kshatriyas draws near, on account of Duryodhana's crimes and the might of Bhima and Arjuna. Whoever reads this tale of Indra's victory with a heart full of devout faith is cleansed of his sins, attains the realm of bliss, and finds joy both in this world and in the next. He fears no enemies; he never remains without a son, never encounters any misfortune, and enjoys a long life. Victory proclaims itself to him everywhere, and he knows nothing of defeat.' Vaishampayana continued: 'O best of the Bharata race, the king, this foremost of the righteous, thus encouraged, duly honored Shalya.
