Why did the sons of Pandu never receive their paternal share at all? You know that formerly the sons of Pandu did not receive their paternal property, which was usurped by the sons of Dhritarashtra. The latter tried in various ways to remove the sons of Pandu from their path, resorting even to murderous stratagems many times over; but since the term of life allotted to them had not yet fully expired, the sons of Pandu could not be led to the abode of Yama. On the other hand, when these noble-souled princes built up a kingdom by their own strength, the base sons of Dhritarashtra, together with the son of Suvala, deceitfully took it from them. This Dhritarashtra gave his consent even to this deed, as was usual with him.
