You must tell them: May your husbands be kind and pleasing; be pleasing to your husbands; may you have ornaments, clothing, perfumes, and cleanliness; may you be happy and have at your disposal the joys of life; may your appearance be lovely and your words agreeable. You must ask, O sire, after the well-being of the women of the household. You must also tell the maidservants and servants there — those, perhaps, of Kuru descent, as well as the many hunchbacked and lame among them — that all is well with me, and then ask after their well-being. You must tell them: I hope the son of Dhritarashtra continues to this day to grant you the same kind treatment. I hope he grants you life's comforts. You must also present yourself to those who suffer defects of limb, to the feeble-minded, to the dwarfs whom Dhritarashtra provides with food and clothing out of humane feeling, to those who are blind, and to all those advanced in years, as well as the many who rely on their hands alone, being deprived of legs — tell them that all is well with me, and that I ask after their well-being, addressing them with these words: Do not be afraid, and do not despair over your wretched life full of suffering; without doubt, sins must have been committed by you in former lives.
